Everything ABCs Blog Hop- C

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter C. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their C element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda's blog ~ Scrappy Therapy.

If you already came from Linda then you're on the right track!

My C is~ CHALK!

I see these gorgeous doodled chalkboard style cards and layouts, and I know I can never be that creative. My drawing is limited to stick figures and cubes. So today I am going to share with you a few tricks to get a chalkboard look on your projects using the CTMH Chalk Marker without having to be an artist!

The first trick I want to show you is creating a chalkboard tile for a project.

First, grab a piece of black cardstock. Then, taking any doodle type stamp set, stamp the image you want to use in a light colour such as Bamboo.

Now all you need to do is draw over the light marks left by the ink.

Keep going until you have covered the stamped image with the pen.

You can add your own touches if you want- here I added the word "forever" down the bottom and smudged the edges of the cardstock with some actual chalk.

I adhered this to some Ruby cardstock and used some For Always paper to mat it. This is a chalkboard card made easy!

My second idea is a bit more time consuming but the results are really beautiful.

You will need some dark paper that also has a design on it- the new Paper Fundamentals Basics Assortment would be great for this! I used some For Always paper. You can see the design was subtle but still able to be seen.

All you need to do is colour over the design with your Chalk Marker. Don't worry if it looks streaky- we will fix that!

Once you have coloured your design, take a baby wipe or a slightly damp cloth and smudge it over the paper. This blends the chalk marker to make it more subtle.

This paper is now the perfect backdrop for a wedding or sympathy card. Keep the sentiment simple to really let your chalk background shine!

Thanks for stopping by to look at my chalk inspired cards.
