Here in New Zealand, we are in winter, and so what better way to celebrate than with some Midwinter Christmas Ideas featuring CTMH products? The Holiday Happenings My Crush Album is perfect for my December Daily album, documenting all the little moments that happen over the Christmas period.

I wanted to share a few of the pages I have created using this book- not all of them are pictured but you can discover how easy it is to put together an album using these books. I also used up a lot of the Christmas items I have accumulated over the years- I love buying Christmas scrapbooking items!

The first page of the book is very wintery, which doesn't fit with our idea of Christmas, so I simply removed the page and started with this as my title. Don't be afraid to rip pages out of these albums, they are fabulous papers for using on cards or other layouts.

I started off with our Christmas family photo, which went in our Christmas letter this year. I have made the book chronological but you don't have to- that is the beauty of these books! The second page was accented with some of the stickers from the Holiday Treat Bag Kit as well as a flourish from the Chalk It Up Complements. I love that this album is not just about Christmas, as December was a big month for us with my oldest preparing for school.

The obligatory Santa photo makes an appearance, and I stuck down the photo with Gold Polka Dot Washi to make it stand out from the busy background. The opposite page uses a leftover ticket stub from the Yuletide Carol WOTG, as well as journalling in one of the stickers that comes in the Holiday Happenings Assortment. I stamped Santa and his sleigh on the red photo mat, which also comes in the Assortment. These photo pocket pages are a wonderful feature of the book as they allow you to fit photos in easily.

Documenting a Christmas event was easy with this book- I simply matted some photos onto cardstock and added one of the sticker sentiments from the Holiday Happenings Assortment onto a photo I love of my son's face as he opened his present from Santa.

Here is another wonderful photo pocket page using 2x2 photos- I used this page for two day's worth of photos. The smaller pieces from the Holiday Happenings Assortment fit these pages perfectly, which provides ample space for journalling, photos and embellishments.

As it is summer in New Zealand during Christmas, I also documented some of our outdoor activities and used the Gold Sequins and Hello Summer stamp set on these pages to give a summer feel. I also loved documenting the holiday baking with my boys. To create the title, I masked off the Make It Merry stamp set and added a "sweet" sentiment from a retired SOTM.

A big part of December is celebrating my son's birthday, and so of course I had to document this in my December Daily book. The plainer assortment squares were easily made into birthday embellishments by stamping with the Perfect Fit-Birthday stamp set. I loved this Christmas Checklist that came in the Holiday Happenings Assortment, and even though some of them don't apply to us I made sure we watched The Grinch and had a family movie night.

These have to be two of my favourite pages in the album- my Dad is hilarious and loves to dress up so here he is both Santa and Batman! The sticker on the photo and the journal box are part of the Holiday Happenings Assortment and the Santa button flair comes with the Holiday Happenings Badge Buttons. The I documented my son's Batman themed birthday party, which was a lot of fun.

More pocket pages feature here, as well as the Holiday Happenings Badge Buttons and some pieces from a retired line. I was able to tell the story of Christmas Eve with the journalling box, and I love the photo of my boy dressed up as The Grinch!

One of my favourite additions to the left hand side page is the use of Flip Flaps to keep the letters from Santa, with the journalling hidden underneath.

The last page is some more goodies from the Holiday Happenings Button Badges and Assortment, on a fairly simple page as I have a whole double page layout dedicated to Christmas Day in our 12x12 family album.

I loved creating this December Daily album using the My Crush Holiday Happenings Book, and I hope you enjoyed virtually looking through some of the pages.

  9. Great journal!!! This will be cherished by your family for years. What did you use for the numbers for each page? Is that a stamp or stickers?
