Let's Hear It For The Boys

This week at Heart 2 Heart challenges- we want to hear it for the boys! Maybe it's the dad, son or husband in your life- we want to see!

I created this card using some leftover scraps- but I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I cut some Kraft cardstock using the Sunburst Background Thin Cut, and then layered it on a piece of Glacier cardstock that I had splattered with the Sapphire Shimmer Brush. I then cut a larger circle in Kraft and stamped the sentiment from the My Dad Rocks stamp set.

The parts that didn't fit on the circle I fussy cut and popped up on Thin D Foam Tape. I love how the fish looks like it's jumping off the card!

Thanks for stopping by- I'd love to know what you thought of my card!

Father's Day Card for Just Add Ink

Well, I am back into crafting after a month long hiatus while I moved house. I can't believe it has taken me this long to get my craft mojo back- but now I am creating like crazy in my new craft area.

Tomorrow is Father's Day here in New Zealand, so of course I've had to put together a quick card for my Dad!

I was inspired by the sketch over at Just Add Ink as I really wanted to use up some paper scraps and play with my new masculine stamp and thin cuts set, featuring an old-style pickup truck.

I kept the colours neutral to make the wood patterned paper take centre stage, and how cute is the pickup?

The sentiment is from a retired stamp set that I love, and I stamped both the truck and the sentiment in brown ink to keep the colour scheme monochromatic.

Thanks for stopping by!

Fresh Air Father's Day card

I am really enjoying all the challenges a the moment, and I knew I wanted to play along with this week's Color Dare challenge over at Color My Heart as I had lots of Fresh Air paper scraps.

I started off with the Glacier spotted paper scrap and the card grew from there. The spots inspired me to create a spotty embossed background, and then I used a Father's Day stamp set for the sentiment.

I added some strips of extra paper and cardstock behind the sentiment to anchor it, and finished off the card with some Glacier twine.

Have you been crafting with Fresh Air? Let me know- I'd love to see your creations!

A Tie-riffic Dad!

This week, the theme of the Heart 2 Heart Challenge is The Ties That Bind.

I immediately thought of Father's Day coming up, as I had a fun tie scrapbook layout idea in my head.

Here is the layout, ready for photos to be added from Father's Day.

I added in some of the Zoe Complements, as well as adding the stamped date to the journal strips.

I know I will get at least one funny photo, so I have added this sticker plus a wooden star. The blue sequin was stuck in the star, so I decided to leave it there as I thought it looked rather cool!

The tie was cut on my Cricut and I have cut the title into the patterned paper.

I am also linking this layout up with the Scrap Our Stash Challenge, as I was inspired by the Dad theme, the stars and the blue of the boy's shirt.

Man, Oh Man

Father's Day isn't until September here, but Heart 2 Heart Challenges is all about celebrating the man in your life this week!

I have seen a lot of chocolate bar wrappers on Pinterest, but none of them fitted the chocolate options we have in our local supermarkets. I experimented and came up with a scored box that fits a Kit Kat or other double chocolate bar, then decorated it to give to the Dads in my family.

To begin, you need a piece of patterned paper cut to 5" x 7.5".

Score this piece of paper along the wider end at 1.75", 2.25", 5" and 5.5". Fold these edges in.

Take the bottom of each score and fold in between the score lines, about half an inch up the centre. This provides a nice fold for the bottom of the bag and keeps the chocolate secure.

Apply adhesive to the side flap of the back of the box, as well as on the inside of the box between the score lines.

Secure the back flap together, and secure the bottom of the bag by pinching the folded lines you made between the score lines and rubbing shut with your fingers.

You should end up with a cute little bag that is sealed at the bottom.

Now you can slide in your chocolate bar or whatever other gift you would like to give!

I decorated m chocolate wrapper by using a Cricut cut moustache and The Best Dad Ever stamp set.

Here are the finished wrappers in two different designs- I would love to know your favourite!

There you have it, a quick and easy way to dress up a chocolate bar for Father's Day or any other time of year. If you are inspired to create something manly, be sure to share it with us at Heart 2 Heart!
