Stencil It!

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 12 of us highlighting Stenciling.

This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you are coming from Cat’s Blog, you are on the right track!

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Star Wars and dressing up. Star Wars Day is May 4th, and although I couldn't celebrate fully this year, I made up for it by scrapbooking photos from the Star Wars Ball two years ago. I had been holding off doing this page because the professional photographer had never gotten back to me, but I finally decided to give up on expecting those photos and just use what I had.

I knew that the Aurora paper would be perfect for Star Wars photos, and I found a starry stencil on my Cricut Artbooking set. This idea came into my head and I love how it turned out!

I started by cutting the stencil from White Daisy cardstock on my Cricut, and then I taped it in place with washi tape to a full 12x12 piece of White Daisy cardstock.

I then sponged over the stencil using a combination of Peacock and Sapphire ink.

Here is how my sponged stencil template turned out!I love the dreamy tonal effect that sponging in two colours gave the stars, and it reminded me so much of the Aurora paper.

I really wanted to use both sides of this paper on my layout for both the constellation and the galaxy feel, but didn't want the trees at the bottom of the Northern Lights themed piece. Therefore, I had the idea to fold over the paper to show both the stenciling and the gorgeous galaxy paper, whilst still having the constellation paper as the feature piece. I also added some extra small stamped stars from the Shine Bright stamp set to fill in the white space. I love how my layout turned out!

I also cut some star shapes on my Cricut using the Aurora collection, and used some of the Aurora stickers and the Shine Bright stamp set to complete the look of this layout. I stamped the sentiment using White Daisy pigment ink straight onto the paper so that it could be seen but not detract from the stenciling.

Up close you can really see the beautiful mix of the two sponged colours and how well they blend together, just like the paper. This technique is great for creating any galaxy, northern light or space themed layouts and cards.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto Alyson's Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!

Aurora Australasian Blog Hop

Hello and welcome aboard our May Featured Collection Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from Doris then you are in the right place.

If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Today I would like to share with you a creation which features Close To My Heart’s May  Featured collection, Aurora. Isn't it dreamy?

I wanted to do a layout featuring the beautiful tree background. This started off as a camping layout but then I just loved the tree theme so much that  I went with that- I will have to do a separate layout for camping I think!

The left hand side of the page features some of the stickers from the sticker sheet, as well as some cuts fro the Aurora Cricut collection such as the trees and arrow.

I used more stars and trees from the Cricut cuts and sticker sheet, and added a large sticker as my title and an Aurora Picture My Life card for the journalling.

I will be using this layout for hiking and tramping photos when the weather clears- I am really in love with this collection!

If you do not have a consultant please contact me or place an order here.

I'd love you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop, ScrappyChicks.

I love all of the sentiments in this stamp set- I had some photos from St Patrick's Day sitting on my craft table and so I just created as I go using the SOTM along with some Sage cardstock and the Aurora Paper Packet that I had sitting on my desk as well.

I used one of the sentiments from the Stamp of the Month across my journalling box- and look at all those beautiful papers! I cut the journalling box on my Cricut to get the shamrock detail.

I used the smaller heart and star stamps to create this sweet little banner across my page, and then accessorized with White and Gold Twine and Gold Glitter Gems because St Patrick's Day is all about the green and gold!

Now "Hop" on over to Michelle's Blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas!
